The Mercer Island School District is a public U.S. school district in Washington. Located in an affluent bedroom community of Seattle, Mercer Island, it has a strong academic reputation. The five schools on Mercer Island provide approximately 4,000 students with primary and secondary education. In 2015 the school district banned the game of tag. The district said it was for safety reasons, while parents said that they had not been consulted and were unaware of this until their children told them.〔"(School district bans game of tag to ‘ensure physical, emotional safety of students’ )" ((Archive )).
